HARRIS & HARRIS GROUP NOTES NANOSYS LICENSING AGREEMENTS WITH LAWRENCE BERKELEY NATIONAL LABORATORY AND COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Harris & Harris Group, Inc. noted the announcement today by Nanosys, Inc. (www.nanosysinc.com) that it has signed exclusive licensing agreements for worldwide rights to a broad set of intellectual properties covering materials and technologies of nanocomposite solar cells developed by two of the world's leading nanotechnology centers, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Columbia University. The licensed patents cover important aspects of nanocomposite solar cells based on inorganic semiconductor nanomaterials such as nanocrystals, nanorods and nanowires.

Harris & Harris Group has invested $1,500,000 in Nanosys, Inc., its largest investment in a tiny-technology company to date. Nanosys is developing nano-enabled systems. These systems incorporate novel and patent-protected nanostructures that integrate functional complexity directly into each individual nanoparticle.
