HARRIS & HARRIS GROUP AND TINY TECH FOR CLEANTECH

Harris & Harris Group first invested in Cleantech in 1989, when we seeded Molten Metal Technology, an environmental sciences spin-out from M.I.T. In 1993, we sold our shares in the open market on Nasdaq for $30,660,765, versus our cost of $110,000. In 2003, we invested again in Cleantech with an investment in Nanogram Devices Corporation. NanoGram Devices Corporation was acquired 13 months after our initial investment in the company, and this acquisition returned 3.4 times our investment in the company. Nanotechnology, in which we have specialized since 2001, is being utilized in more and more Cleantech solutions.

Today, we classify eight of our portfolio companies as Cleantech companies. Cleantech has been a steadily growing segment of our portfolio, not only in terms of number of investments and gross dollar value, but also in terms of percentages of our total number of investments and our total portfolio value.
